Tenleytown Main Street welcomed three new businesses to Tenleytown during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, March 16, 2017. Representatives of the Mayor’s Office of Community Relations and Services and the Department of Small and Local Business Development joined Tenleytown Main Street for the ribbon cuttings.

The ceremony recognized businesses that opened in Tenleytown in the last three months, including Bloom OB/GYN, Dunkin’ Donuts, and The Tile Shop.

Bloom OB/GYN opened its three-member practice on February 6, 2017 at 4001 Brandywine Street. Both Dunkin’ Donuts and The Tile Shop opened at the end of December 2016 in the Tenley Point building, 4530 Wisconsin Avenue.

Tenleytown Main Street also honored Middle C Music on Thursday, presenting owner Myrna Sislen a special certificate to mark the music store’s 15th anniversary.

Middle C Music is also located in the Tenley Point building.

Since the Main Street program launched officially in January 2016, 10 new businesses have opened in the Tenleytown business district bringing more than 100 jobs to the local economy. Five additional businesses have announced plans to open in the coming year, including Muncheez, Orangetheory Fitness, and Seoul Spice.

Established in 2015, Tenleytown Main Street is a community-based non-profit organization that works with residents and local businesses to strengthen the commercial district at the heart of the community. Its mission is to revitalize Wisconsin Avenue, from Tenley Circle to Fessenden Street, by attracting new businesses, creating a stronger retail presence, and making Tenleytown an even more desirable place to work and play.
