Description

We're celebrating Earth Day a week early! Join Rock Creek Conservancy and Tenleytown Main Street on Saturday, April 14 for the 10th Annual Rock Creek Extreme Cleanup.

The Rock Creek Extreme Cleanup allows volunteers to clean-up the lands, banks, tributaries, and waters of Rock Creek throughout Maryland and D.C. Our goal is total stream cleanup of Rock Creek and its tributaries, the parks connected to Rock Creek, and the neighborhoods near Rock Creek where trash originates.

Tenleytown Main Street will lead the effort to clean up Wisconsin Avenue and get the commercial district ready for spring. From Fessenden Street to Tenley Circle, volunteers will remove trash and debris along the avenue, as well as weed and mulch tree boxes.

When: Saturday April 14, 2018 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm

Where: Volunteers will meet at the small triangular park at Wisconsin Ave NW and Fessenden St NW, Washington, DC. Volunteers will clean up the park and surrounding area, then continue north up Wisconsin Ave, cleaning as they go, and will finally end at Tenley Circle. We will also focus on cleaning up Fort Drive and 40th Street NW near the Wilson Aquatic Center.

Who: You, of course! Sign up to volunteer by clicking HERE. Students can earn SSL hours, but please bring needed forms.

What to Wear: Please dress appropriately for the weather. It may be chilly so dress warmly and in layers. Wear sturdy boots or sneakers, no sandals.

What to Bring: Trash bags, gloves, and garden tools will be provided. Feel free to bring your own tools and gloves if you have them. If you have trash grabbers or nets, please bring them.
