Tenleytown Main Street partners with residents and local businesses to strengthen the commercial district at the heart of our community. Together we are improving the quality of life for all who live, work, and play in this historic neighborhood.

Why $32? Because that’s the multiplier effect of Main Streets. For every dollar invested in Main Street programs last year, local communities on average saw $32 in new investments in their business districts.
Tenleytown Main Street is bringing that impact to our own community. In less than two years, we have:
- Welcomed 16 new businesses, and an estimated 160 new jobs, to our business district
- Funded $23,000 in storefront improvements and direct technical assistance to small, local businesses
- Launched a Clean & Green initiative, including managing the Wisconsin Avenue Clean Team, that has removed nearly 12,000 lbs of trash and recyclables, cleaned graffiti from 120 properties, and cared for 337 street trees
- Produced signature events – Art All Night, Make Music Day, Tenley WinterFest – that showcase our local businesses and unique Tenleytown brand, attracting 20,000+ visitors and generating revenue for shops and restaurants.
Our work is just beginning. In 2018, Tenleytown Main Street will continue to make investments in the vitality of our business district. We will:
- expand storefront and façade improvement assistance
- provide additional business training opportunities to local entrepreneurs
- invest in placemaking to improve Tenleytown’s urban green space
- continue to build the Tenleytown brand through promotional events that highlight local businesses and our creative community
