Description

This October marks the 60th anniversary of the Cuban missile crisis—the closest the world came to a nuclear war. Lessons from the crisis remain starkly relevant today, and world leaders still rely on lessons from the crisis. Yet many of the lessons they follow are based on distortions that can be clarified only by viewing the crisis through the distinctive lenses of the three countries involved: the United States, the Soviet Union, and Cuba. SIS emeritus professor Philip Brenner will moderate a discussion with a panel with three scholars who will examine these lessons and their significance for today’s global conflicts.

Attendees will receive reminder emails containing the Zoom webinar link.
