NEW! Tenleytown Walking Tour: Art on Call

In the early 2000s, Cultural Tourism DC created “Art on Call,” a program to restore the city’s abandoned police and fire call boxes as public art. In Tenleytown, 11 call boxes feature artwork by local resident Lena Frumin depicting the neighborhood’s history, which dates to the late 1700s. During this walking tour, learn more about Tenleytown’s evolution from its earliest days to the modern era. Art on Call was funded in part by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, Department of Transportation, and Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development. Locally the project was supported by the Tenleytown Historical Society and Tenleytown Neighbors Association. Tenleytown Main Street has updated and expanded upon the historical markers and images for the purposes of this tour.

The tour begins and ends within a short walk of the Tenleytown-AU Metro Station.
