Description

American University will host the opening night screening of the Films Across Borders film festival. The opening night film, "The River and the Wall," follows five friends on horses, mountain bikes, and canoes as they explore the environmental and human impacts of a southern border wall along the wilderness of the Texas Rio Grande.

The program will include a mini-concert by folk singers Peter Yarrow (Peter, Paul and Mary) and Bethany Yarrow, both social justice and environmental activists, accompanied by SOC Dean Laura DeNardis on acoustic guitar.

An audience discussion following the film will be moderated by Maggie Burnette Stogner, the executive director of the Center for Environmental Filmmaking.
