"First Ladies of Tenleytown" Walking Tour

To celebrate Women’s History Month, join the Tenleytown Historical Society for a 90-minute walking tour of Washington's second oldest village and learn about the rich history of Tenleytown through the lens of its “first ladies.”

Firsts in their professions, firsts in their families, firsts in the hearts of their neighbors – discover the women pioneers of education, architecture, and business who left their marks on Tenleytown. (Don’t worry, they’ll talk about men, too.)

As you crisscross Wisconsin Avenue, you’ll learn about the community's roots and historic sites, including the civil-war era Grant Road and 18th and early 19th century estate houses. Discover Tenleytown’s notable women and their connections to the religious, educational, and civic institutions that underpinned the neighborhood. Tour takes place outside.
