Description

Reno was a mixed-race town located on the hill that is now Fort Reno Park. It was erased in the 1920s.  Reno’s location, on a ridge above Georgetown and northwest of the city, played a key role in both its creation and destruction. On this walking tour given by local historian Neil Flanagan, explore the community's history through the geography of the land it once occupied, focusing on Reno’s remaining buildings and the people who lived there. Old roads, a schoolhouse, and the park's iconic water towers take on new meaning as their histories come to life.
