May is bursting in Tenleytown and fun events!

Dear TMS Family,

As we get closer to the summer, there are many ways to get outside and enjoy Tenleytown! Rockin’ at the Ridge is beginning their summer series this week and we are hosting TenleyFest, a free celebration of music and art on June 1 from 3-5 pm in front of businesses throughout the corridor. Come enjoy musical acts with styles from around the world and local artists who will be available to help students create amazing chalk art with different themes.

We are also celebrating our local cuisine with the recent official grand opening of East West Cafe and the 25th anniversary of Matisse Restaurant!

See you on the Main Street!

Rockin’ at City Ridge

The second annual Rockin’ at the Ridge music series begins tonight. There will be acts ranging from jazz and rock to go-go and acapella and continuing every weekend throughout the Spring and Summer, Ridge Square is going to be rockin’!  Grab some tacos from Taco Bamba or a pizza or salad from Roof Top Kitchen and take a seat in the square or get to the outdoor bar at King Street Oyster Bar to grab a bite and enjoy the music. Our residents can simply open their windows and enjoy the music as well. Music will be played at street level near the patio outside King Street Oyster Bar and Tatte Bakery. The warmer months are going to be rocking at City Ridge. Don’t miss out.

American University Gallery Talk: Surface Tension
May 19th, 20th, 2:00-3:00pm
American University MFA candidates explore the oscillation between the surface and what lies beneath. Works in this exhibition bring forth the rich autobiographical soil that informs each of the artists’ practices and journeys. This exhibition interrogates the notion of surface as merely the endpoint of each artist’s work, proposing instead that it serves as a dynamic threshold to multilayered narratives and inquiries.
