Tenleytown’s thriving commercial district features more than 120 storefront businesses, including restaurants, fitness studios, national retailers, and iconic locally-owned shops.
Our friendly, walkable neighborhood is known for its festive events, community institutions, and local businesses that entertain and cater to all ages and stages.
From entertainment to shopping, education to healthcare, pet care to childcare, and everything in between, residents can find anything they need right here in Tenleytown.
A number of Tenleytown businesses have undergone big changes this fall! Tenleytown Main Street has provided funding to help several of our businesses improve their facades. In addition to helping the businesses, this kind of improvement makes our corridor more visually appealing and walkable. After receiving a Growth Fund Grant from the Department of Small and Local Business, Tenleytown Main Street worked with businesses and Gelberg Signs to design and install the new facades. Pete’s Pizza also received support for the design of their new signage which was installed by a local fabricator. The next time you walk through the corridor, take a look at the new signs!
Le Chat Noir Turns 20!
Le Chat Noir celebrated 20 years in Tenleytown earlier this month with a mime, music, magic, and a special menu. Community members came out to support one of our finest restaurants and to celebrate with owner Sam Ziar on this important occasion. Restaurants like Le Chat Noir and Matisse have both been providing authentic French fare in Tenleytown for 20 years and participate in community events including Bastille Day in the Park. We are lucky to have these restaurants in the neighborhood!
Trivia Nights in Tenleytown!
Tenleytown has two free trivia nights each month with prizes for the winners. Led by Tenleytown Main Street volunteers and trivia masters Matt and Robin, these fun-filled evenings provide a chance for community members to test their knowledge against others. Our longstanding and popular Trivia Night at Guapos takes place on the 2nd Thursday of each month beginning at 7:30 pm. Based on the success of this event, they recently added a Name That Tune Trivia night at Masala Art on the first Tuesday of each month beginning at 8 pm.
Name That Tune is a game for up to four players where samples are played from 20 songs. Guessing song titles and artists early will get you more points, but you can only guess once per song.
Name that Tune Trivia Night – Tuesday, November 4th at 8 pm
Trivia Night – Thursday, November 13 at 7:30 pm

A note from Tenleytown Main Street’s Executive Director:
This is a perfect time to shop at our unique small businesses in Tenleytown. Given the economic uncertainty of this moment, it is easy to choose the lowest cost and most convenient option which is often a large online retailer. Supporting our small businesses helps to preserve the vibrant character of our neighborhood and provides expertise, costumer service and experience that is often not present in other less personal transactions. Please take some time and revisit our local restaurants, merchants, hair and nail salons, frame shops and other retailers to rediscover what makes our corridor great.
