Federal Funding Freeze Update
Last week the White House issued a stressful and confusing Executive Order, directing all federal agencies to temporarily pause activities related to the obligation or disbursement of federal financial assistance.
This order was challenged in court and halted by two federal judges. The White House rescinded the order, but we are aware of the immense confusion this is causing. We are monitoring diligently and will keep businesses apprised of any updates or changes.
While the future of the Executive Order is not yet clear, here are some recommend tips for strategizing from local advocacy group, The Coalition (formerly CNHED):
Take stock of current federal funding and engage with granting agencies to understand any potential changes.
Reassess short-term plans and cash flow projections to prepare for any delays or changes in funding beyond February 10.
Explore other funding streams and collaborative solutions to maintain momentum in creating vibrant, inclusive communities.

Changes to Federal No Tax on Tips Proposal
Ending taxes on gratuities continues to gather support among local and federal lawmakers. A revised version of No Tax on Tips legislation has been introduced with these provisions affecting business operators and works.
Tips would be tax-free only up to $25,000 per person a year, and individuals earning over $155,000 annually would not be eligible.
Why It Matters to Your Restaurant: The 45B FICA Tip Credit remains protected.
What’s Next: More changes are likely as the bill moves through Congress. With our national partners, RAMW will continue to keep you updated on the latest.
