Hello Tenleytown!

TMS & TD Bank have partnered on a tax seminar next Thursday November 7th from 4:00-6:00pm at CityRidge (see below for details!) And now is a great time to begin to think about how your business will prepare for the holiday season. Initiatives like Small Business Saturday during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend can help boost your sales.

We will also be reaching out soon with details about our Business Membership Program. This is a great chance for your business to receive a number of incentives like free advertising for a low yearly cost that contributes to improvements and programming in Tenleytown.

November 7th, 4:00-6:00pm

Hello Businesses! ABCA Daylight Saving Time Guidance

DST will end at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025. Clocks must “fall back” or be turned back by one (1) hour. Any licensee that normally ends alcohol service at 2:00 a.m. will automatically be able to sell and serve alcohol until 3:00 a.m. Licensees do not need to take any action to remain open for one (1) additional hour to conduct business.

Settlement Agreements and Board Orders may affect eligibility.

DC Holiday Hunt Business Participation 2025

Join District Bridges for DC Holiday Hunt – an easy & fun digital game that encourages consumers to shop local and support small businesses this holiday season. Small businesses like: YOURS! Amount: Various

If you are a for-profit food business located in Washington DC and looking to grow your business, apply for the 2025 Nourish DC Grant today!

$450,000 in grants are available with a preference for businesses that are locally owned, increase access to healthy food, create quality jobs, and that are located in neighborhoods lacking access to grocery stores.

Rauschenberg Medical Emergency Grant

DISB: Watch Out for Fake Job Offers and Benefits Bait

With the fall hiring season underway, scammers are targeting vulnerable job seekers with fake employment offers that include unnecessary insurance add-ons or blatantly false “benefits.” These tactics can lead to financial loss, mental stress, compromise your personally identifiable information and leave you without real employment or genuine insurance coverage.

Fake Job Offers

Scammers might try to contact you through text, email or social media, offering job opportunities with extremely attractive benefits that seem too good to be true. Do not use official email or work addresses.

Insurance Add-Ons

Fraudulent employers often pressure vulnerable consumers into purchasing fake insurance policies or even “premiums” as part of the employment package. These added costs are usually marketed as life or health insurance but provide no licensed coverage. 

Protect Yourself

Contact the insurer directly at the number listed on their official webpage (and not in the job communication you may have received) to verify the legitimacy of any policy.

Verify the company through official bulletins or job boards and refuse to share personal, sensitive or financial information until you verify that the offer and the provider is legitimate.
